Man injured after being shot in leg in Bangor

A man in his 30s has been taken to hospital with "significant injuries" after being reportedly shot in the leg in Bangor.
Police received a report of the shooting on an area of grass near Ganaway Walk on Thursday morning.
The scene was attended by members of the police service and ambulance staff.
Det Ch Insp Kerry Brennan said that this was a "brutal attack which has left the victim traumatised and with significant injuries".
In a statement Detective Brennan said that people involved in carrying out this type of attack "do not represent the interests of any community", adding, "they do it to try and exert influence, or gain control of those they claim to represent".
Police are appealing for information relating to the incident.
