The death of a Spanish man who was found in a river in has been deemed "unascertainable" by a coroner.
Seth Martin, who was 31 and lived in York, had been missing since 24 February when his body was found in the River Ouse on 16 June.
An inquest was opened at North Yorkshire Coroner's Court on Friday, but his cause of death was not determined and the hearing was adjourned until a later date.
Mr Martin's family previously said he was "a light in our lives".
In a statement they said: "Seth was more than a son, brother and friend. He was a light in our lives, someone who touched the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him."
The family also added they are planning to have his body repatriated to Spain.
Mr Martin worked in a coffee shop after moving to York two years ago following eight years living in London. He lived in the Clifton area.
He was reported missing by his flatmate and later found in the Nether Poppleton area, the court heard on Friday.
The court also heard that formal identification of Mr Martin had been confirmed.
