The Environment Agency (EA) has issued a flood warning for the River Trent in east Staffordshire.

It is one of dozens across England as heavy rain continues to fall.

A Met Office yellow rain warning, external for much of Staffordshire is expected to remain in place until 20:00 GMT.

The flood warning covers Barton under Needwood, Catton and Branston Water Park.

The EA said flooding may affect areas around the Barton Turns area and Graycar Business Park, as well as the Lichfield Road area in Branston.

It said properties and businesses could flood and urged people to take action if they were at risk.

With further rain forecast on Thursday and over the weekend, the EA said river levels were expected to remain high until Monday.

Firefighters in Staffordshire have urged drivers to avoid standing water after having to come to the rescue of two motorists on Wednesday.
