Mouse droppings and mould have been found by council environmental health officers inspecting an Odeon cinema in Dudley.

In their report, they said the droppings were found in a food storage room used for Ben and Jerrys products, in a drinks container room and under a sandwich display chiller unit.

Dirt was also identified in the corners of a popcorn machine during the visit in December, as the inspectors gave the site next to the Merry Hill Shopping Centre a two-star rating.

In a statement, Odeon said it was working hard to resolve the issue as quickly as possible and said it sincerely apologised for any inconvenience caused.

Inspectors also highlighted what they thought was mould in an ice machine, but Odeon said it had been in contact with the firm that provided it and said it had confirmed the marks were mechanical abrasions common in such machines rather than mould.

The report also made recommendations in regards to the stacking of goods, and allergen matrixes in both the Costa and Odeon missing some potential allergens.

The council report includes a number of recommendations, including pest control and cleaning procedures.
