A six-year-old boy and two women, aged 26 and 39. have died in a crash in Worcestershire.

Two men are also in hospital, one with life-threatening injuries, following the collision on Spetchley Road, near Worcester, at 15:00 GMT on Thursday.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said those killed had all been in the same car.

The boy was in a critical condition and was taken to the Worcester Royal Hospital, but was confirmed dead soon after arrival.

The ambulance service said despite the best efforts of medics the two women died at the scene of the crash, near the County Hall roundabout in Worcester.

The two men, who were in a second car, were both seriously injured and taken to the major trauma centre at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

Ch Insp Mark Davidson, of West Mercia Police, said: “This is an incredibly sad incident, and our thoughts are with the family and friends of the people who have sadly died."

He urged any witnesses or anyone with dash-cam footage of the crash to contact police.
