Hospital plans released and consultation begins

Jersey residents are being invited to give feedback on the proposed design of a new Acute Hospital at Overdale in St Helier.
The Government of Jersey has launched a public consultation, external on the plans that will be open until 4 June.
The design features a "pinwheel" concept, which the government said had been designed with "clinical function at the forefront" while also taking into account the context of the site.
The proposals include building a new accident and emergency department, critical care unit and operating theatres - as well as adding 80 new hospital beds.
The government said it selected the design after exploring a range of options during the concept phase of the process, which took into account clinical, physical and environmental factors.
The team from the New Healthcare Facilities Programme will be holding a series of online and in-person public events throughout the month, including a virtual exhibition space where the public can see the plans.
The new hospital is expected to cost more than £700m and forms part of the government’s plans to build new healthcare facilities across the island.
Members of the public can give their feedback online, with paper copies of the survey available at any parish hall in both English and Portuguese.
