Two people have appeared in court after a man was stabbed at a house in York.

Bradley Bell, 55, and Lauren Trapps, 34, were charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and appeared at York Magistrates' Court earlier.

They were arrested after police were called to an address on Huntington Road on Sunday where a man in his 30s was found with serious abdominal injuries that required surgery.

Mr Bell, of Wood Street in York, and Ms Trapps, of St Bridget Court, were not asked to enter a plea and were remanded in custody until a hearing at York Crown Court on 10 November.

A 51-year-old man who was also arrested in connection with the incident has been released on conditional bail while further enquiries are carried out.
