A woman has been seriously injured in a crash involving a tractor and a car.

Emergency services were called to the A38 at the junction with the A361 at Walford Cross near Taunton, Somerset, at 08:26 BST.

The road was closed in both directions while fire and ambulance services attended the scene.

A woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries, and Avon and Somerset Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage to get in contact.

The crash comes as a petition signed by more than 15,000 people, calling for a 30mph speed limit over safety fears on the A361, was presented to Somerset Council this week after several deaths in the past year.
