Cathedral lightshow to explore the concept of time

The 2025 show will have the theme of time

A lightshow is returning to Rochester Cathedral to explore the concept of time.

The 2025 show, from artistic collaboration Luxmuralis, returns for the fifth time and will run from Tuesday until Saturday.

The show includes a series of installations which the cathedral says will "explore humanity's evolving relationship with the concept of time".

A spokesperson from the cathedral said: "From the earliest epochs to modern theories of relativity, and inspired by the visionary text of HG Wells' The Time Machine, each projection immerses attendees in a dramatic narrative that stretches from the present day back to the origins of our planet."

Luxmuralis has previously done light installations in the United States and Germany

Peter Walker, artistic director of Luxmuralis, said: "Through powerful light, sound, and storytelling, this installation transforms your surroundings and takes you from the present day all the way back through time itself.

"It's not just something to watch - it's something to feel, explore, and experience."

Luxmuralis has previously done light installations at St Paul's Cathedral, the Tower of London and Westminster Abbey, as well as in the United States and Germany.

Last year the lightshow featured projections drawing on Anglo-Saxon manuscripts, art and architecture.
