The trail still has two weeks left on display in Maidstone

A charity has been left "heartbroken" after two Shaun the Sheep sculptures were vandalised.

The Heart of Kent hospice charity have said that they have had to remove the two sheep from a trail of the children's cartoon character which was placed around Maidstone since June.

They were among 100 unique pieces which were meant to be on display until 30 August before being auctioned.

Erica Snow, project manager for the trail, said: "The severity of the damage means that neither sculpture can remain on the trail.

"This means significant loss of over £5,000 to the hospice, as we are unable to put this sculpture into our Shaun Auction on 26 September."

The sculptures were all designed and painted by hand.

Kent Police have been approached for comment.
