Motorway reopens after overnight roadworks overrun

A stretch of the M3 near Basingstoke has reopened after overnight roadworks overran leaving the motorway closed through the morning rush.

The resurfacing work between junction 7 for Basingstoke South and junction 6 for Basingstoke was expected to finish at 06:00 GMT.

National Highways said the works overran due to unforeseen circumstances.

Drivers faced diversions through Basingstoke during the closure, with delays of 90 minutes reported.
