Students win engineering apprenticeship awards

Four Guernsey students have received Apprentice of the Year awards for their work in the motor trade this year.
Harry Esteves, Gemma Le Page, Lewis Guest and Luke Winstanley won awards for their engineering apprenticeships, which are supported by industry sponsors.
The College of Further Education selects one student per year group each year for the awards based on their performances.
Harry Esteves, winner of the first year trophy, said: "It was good to win that - it shows they see you've put in the work."
Gemma Le Page, winner of the second year trophy, said her favourite part of her apprenticeship was "constantly learning and working towards" her job.
Lewis Guest, winner of the third year trophy, said he was "really happy and really proud" to find out the news.
Luke Winstanley, winner of the fourth year trophy, said: "It felt rewarding, it's quite motivating knowing that I've been selected for it."
The Motor Trades Association awards were held at the Route des Coutanchez campus and attended by the college staff and corporate sponsors.
Mechanics teacher James Wallis said the awards were "well deserved" by students.
He said: "It's why I do it... it's absolutely brilliant.
"When you see something you're trying to show them click, it really makes the job worthwhile."
