Plans lodged in bid to reduce traffic at wholesaler

Plans have been lodged to improve congestion issues at a wholesaler in Derby.
Costco Wholesale Ltd has submitted a planning application to Derby City Council to extend the current car park at the Costco Wholesale store at Pride Park by 104 spaces.
The Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) said the new spaces would be used by staff, and would free up space in the existing car park for customers.
According to planning documents the proposals have been developed due to the pressure on the existing car park, which has led to congestion in the surrounding area.
The LDRS said heavy traffic at the Costco Wholesaler store and surrounding shops at Pride Park, opposite the Wyvern Retail Park, had been an issue for some time.
A letter to the council by the applicant's agent states: "The principal reason for the proposal is to provide car parking for Costco staff, thereby freeing up space in the main car park for members, improving capacity and circulation, therefore reducing congestion."
