Driver who reached 130mph in police chase arrested

The 21-year-old driver reached a dead end, ran from the car and entered a river

A driver reached speeds of more than 130mph while being followed by police in North Yorkshire.
The 21-year-old man failed to stop for officers and drove a silver VW Golf through Thirsk and South Kilvington, joined the A19 then returned to Thirsk at about 03:00 GMT on Sunday.
Police deployed spike strips and succesfully deflated the vehicle's tyres. The man attempted to continue to drive until he reached a dead end and ran from the car into a river.
He was caught and arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving without insurance, drug driving and possession of a Class A drug.
North Yorkshire Police said its investigations were ongoing.
