Witnesses and anyone who may have camera footage are being urged to come forward after an eight-year-old boy suffered life changing injuries following a hit-and-run crash.

Dorset Police said the boy was hit by a white BMW 118i Sport in Holdenhurst Road, Bournemouth on Monday shortly before 11:40 BST. The driver reportedly failed to stop at the scene.

The boy was taken to hospital by air ambulance.

A man aged 36 and a woman, 21, both from Reading, Berkshire, arrested on suspicion of driving offences after the car was found, have since been bailed.

Sgt Mike Burt, of the Dorset Police roads policing team, said: "We are continuing to investigate this collision, and I am keen to hear from any witnesses who have not already spoken to police.

"I would urge anyone with dashcam who was driving in the vicinity, as well as any local residents or businesses with home CCTV systems or doorbell cameras, to please check their recorded footage to see if they have captured anything that may assist our inquiries."
