Officers have appealed for information after a man was attacked at a park in Leicester.
Leicestershire Police said a group of men were approached by a larger group carrying weapons, including baseball bats and poles, in Ellis Meadows, off Robert Hall Street, at about 16:00 BST on Sunday.
The force said the smaller group ran off but a 20-year-old man was attacked. He suffered cuts and puncture wounds and was taken to hospital.
His injuries were not life-threatening or life-altering, the force added.
Officers said following the attack, a male cyclist stopped and spoke to the victim.
Det Con Harriet Gilpin said: "From enquiries carried out since the incident occurred, I know there were other people going in and out of Ellis Meadows around that time.
"I'd like to speak to anyone who can assist us – but particularly the man who stopped and spoke to the victim.
"I'd also like to speak to anyone who saw the group prior to this incident happening or who saw anyone acting in a manner that seemed unusual or suspicious.
"Any details you're able to provide, no matter how insignificant you think they are, could help."
