A new arts-based learning programme focusing on dance and drama is set to be introduced to three primary schools.

Bristol's Trinity Community Arts will launch its Cultural Alliance project in September.

The two-year course will be delivered in partnership with Easton Primary, St Nicholas of Tolentine and Hannah Moore Primary.

All three Bristol schools are based near the Trinity Centre and have many pupils facing challenges relating to health and socioeconomic factors.

Youth service manager at Trinity Community Arts, Jenny Bodnarchuk, described the project as the "first of its kind" in the area.

She said the scheme had been designed to meet the needs of each school, as well as address "educational inequalities" and "empower" young people through art.

The team will deliver a weekly hour-long session around movement and drama for all Key Stage 2 pupils in the three schools.

"We are looking forward to working with our partner primary schools to inspire creative thinking and allowing each child who participates to thrive," said Ms Bodnarchuk.
