Pedestrian struck by car dies on Christmas Day

A man who was struck by a car as he crossed the road on Christmas Eve has died, police have said.

The 70-year-old pedestrian was taken to hospital after being hit by a purple Alfa Romeo Mito and died on Christmas Day, Cheshire Police said.

He was struck on Chester Road in Macclesfield at about 20:00 GMT, the force said.

Police have asked for any witnesses to contact them.
