Two suspects have been arrested after a man was stabbed in the street.

Officers were called to Marmion Road in Thorneywood, Nottinghamshire, after reports a teenager on an e-scooter was being chased by a group of youths who were trying to rob him at about 18:25 GMT on Sunday.

Police said a man suffered a serious stab wound to his stomach a short time after intervening in nearby Beecham Avenue and remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital.

An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of committing grievous bodily harm with intent, and a 58-year-old woman was detained on suspicion of aiding and abetting an offence and criminal damage.

The man remains in police custody, while the woman has been bailed as investigations continue.

Detectives have been analysing CCTV footage and are making house-to-house inquiries in the area, police added.

Det Sgt Hannah Frame said: “We know this incident caused concern in the neighbourhood, so I’m pleased we can share this important update.

“Neighbourhood teams have also been deployed on additional patrols to support the community.

“A man remains in hospital having suffered a serious injury, and it is still vital that anyone with information comes forward and shares it with officers."

The force is appealing for CCTV, doorbell, mobile phone or dashcam footage, as well as urging any witnesses to get in touch.
