Pedestrian, 90, dies in Castle Douglas crash

A 90-year-old pedestrian has died after being struck by a vehicle in Dumfries and Galloway.
Police said the woman was on foot in the Laurel Bank Terrace area of Castle Douglas when she was involved in the crash.
Emergency services were called to the scene at about 18:50 on Monday but the pedestrian died at the scene.
A police spokesperson said: "The road was closed for a number of hours to allow investigations to be carried out. Inquiries to establish the full circumstances of the crash remain ongoing."
