Major delays on A56 after lorry overturns

An overturned lorry has forced emergency services to close a large part of the A56 causing delays on one of Lancashire's major roads.

Police were called to near Rossendale after reports of a single vehicle collision at 05:32 BST blocking the central reservation.

Lancashire Police said the A56 was closed in both directions between Manchester Road in Haslingden, and the M66.

The driver and passenger of the HGV vehicle suffered minor injuries.
