Ticket prices nearly double for RHS flower show

The price of tickets for the new Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Sandringham Flower Show are nearly twice the price as those sold for the event it has replaced.

The previously one-day show has been held annually on the royal estate in Norfolk since 1884 and has been run by a committee of volunteers with tickets costing £19 in 2025.

The RHS will now run a five-day event every three years with its first planned for July 2026 and tickets are priced between £38-£42.

The RHS said it was "excited" to expand the event and "support and celebrate local businesses and organisations".

The Sandringham Flower Show attracts about 15,000 visitors each year and the traditional volunteer-run show will return for the years in between the RHS events.

King Charles III was announced as the new patron of the RHS in 2024 and he invited the charity to hold an event on the Sandringham Estate

Graham Browne, the chair of the organising committee for the volunteer-led event, said that his show and the RHS's one are separate and different.

"We are run by a committee of 15 people. All are volunteers and not one is paid. The RHS have a paid staff and are a big organisation and it's a business," he said.

Both the RHS show and the traditional event offer free entry for children, as well as discounts for students and groups.

Mr Browne confirmed the volunteer-run show would be back in 2027.

A spokesperson said: "The RHS is excited to work with local committees and communities to expand the Sandringham Flower Show in 2026 to five days to include more horticultural spectacle, generate a greater national awareness and increase visitor numbers to support and celebrate local businesses and organisations at the show."
