A man has been left with "life-changing" injuries in an assault in Hull, police have said.

Officers were called to reports of the incident, on Spring Bank, at about 12:15 BST on Sunday, according to Humberside Police.

Members of the public and emergency services had reported that two females and one man had assaulted a 29 year-old man, leaving him with serious facial injuries, before running away with his phone.

A cordon remained in place to allow the crime scene investigation team to carry out their work, and anyone who saw what happened or who had information about the attack was asked to get in touch, a force spokesperson said.

Det Insp Gary Mathews, from Humberside Police, said: "Officers were deployed and a 29-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment to life-changing injuries.

''We understand that incidents of this nature may cause concern within the community, but I would like to reassure residents we are doing everything possible to identify those believed to be involved, including reviewing CCTV footage and speaking to witnesses," he said.
