It was a case of all eyes on the skies at the weekend in one of England's best-known resorts as an annual air show saw a host of planes spiral and soar in the sunshine.

Blackpool Air Show saw some of the world's finest military and civilian aircraft performing over the town's seafront.

Thousands thronged to enjoy the spectacle across Saturday and Sunday, as an RAF Typhoon, Supermarine Spitfire, Lancaster Bomber and several other planes took to the sky.

One of the highlights of the weekend was a display by the Red Arrows, who left smoke trail hearts and stripes in the sky over the sea.
