A revamped sports facility has officially opened in Grimsby.

Clee Fields, off Ladysmith Road, has a new 3G pitch and North East Lincolnshire Council (NELC) said it will be able to provide all-year-round football and rugby use for the community.

It has been part-funded by a £1.5m grant from the Premier League, The FA, the Government’s Football Foundation and NELC.

The official opening took place on Saturday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and family fun day.

NELC said YMCA Humber will operate the site for the next five years.

The organisation said it was looking forward to working with organisations, local football teams and clubs to provide a "first-class facility”.
