Police investigating a house fire in Aberdeenshire in which a woman died have said there are no suspicious circumstances.

The blaze took hold of the property on Harbour Road in the Seatown area of Gardenstown in the early hours of 18 September.

Human remains which were later found have now been identified and the woman's family have been informed.

Police Scotland said the relatives had asked for the woman not to be named publicly.

A man was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment after the fire.

A joint investigation into the blaze is being carried out by police and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

It has already involved a 10-day closure of roads at the site, which has since been lifted.
