Five children's choirs from across the United States are to perform together at Rochester Cathedral.

The performance on Wednesday will be the finale of Vox Anima London's International Children's Choir Festival.

Lift Ev'ry Voice and Sing will feature about 100 singers from New Jersey, Wisconsin, South Carolina, Georgia and Virginia.

The joint choirs are to perform a programme featuring music by B.E.Boykin, Bob Chilcott, Elaine Hagenberg, Amy Hughley, Henry Purcell and John Rutter.

The performance will mark the "culmination of a week of music making in London, Canterbury and Rochester" for the visiting children's choirs, organisers said.

"The young singers will have spent the week rehearsing and performing under the inspirational and transatlantic leadership of Joshua Pedde and Amy Hughley from the Indianapolis Children's Choir," they said.

The International Children's Choir Festival has seen the creation of musical experiences for young singers in venues across Kent and London for almost 30 years.
