Primary school pupils have written and recorded a rap track, in the hope it inspires people to make a positive impact on society.

Change the World aims to celebrate the school values of Holy Trinity CofE Academy in Devizes, Wiltshire, and to encourage young people to think about the change they want to see in the world.

About 145 children from the school sing the chorus, and a group of 30 Year 5 and Year 6 pupils rap the verses.

"If people pick up litter, or if people are kind to each other, that can help the world become happier and nicer," said Year 6 pupil Bea.

The pupils worked collaboratively to come up with the rap

The song, released on YouTube and Spotify as Change the World - Holy Trinity Primary Academy features the school's values as themes.

Kitty, a pupil, said: "Compassion, courage, aspiration and joy.

"We really wanted to include them in the song. Important things that mean a lot to us."

Pupil Harry added: "It's a nice song, or rap, and it can talk people into changing the world."

William, another pupil, added they wanted "to show everyone who we are" at Holy Trinity and that "everyone always has a smile on their face".

Dominy Jones, music and diversity lead said the creativity was down to the children

For the teachers, it was important that the children could express themselves.

"The creativity was all the children's," said the school's music and diversity lead, Dominy Jones.

"I found a fantastic group called Sounds Good, who helped the children shape it into something that would be able to be a piece of performance poetry."

Head teacher Anna Woodman said the children have all worked together

Anna Woodman, Holy Trinity's head teacher said: "Our children see this as a gift.

"This gift of being able to give back to the school - our oldest children with the lyrics that they have shared with our younger children.

"But also being able to share it throughout the school community and beyond."
