Cracked rail disrupts trains through Southampton

A speed restriction over defective track in the Southampton Central area means fewer trains are able to run

Rail passengers are facing disruption on services through Southampton Central after a cracked rail was found on one of the lines.
Fewer trains are able to run in the Southampton area and speed restrictions will remain in place until the track is fixed.
The defective track is affecting CrossCountry, Great Western Railway, South Western Railway and Southern services.
It means trains to and from Southampton may be cancelled, delayed or revised. Disruption is expected until the end of the day.
Routes affected:
CrossCountry services between Birmingham New Street / Manchester Piccadilly / Nottingham and Bournemouth
Great Western Railway services between Bristol Temple Meads / Cardiff Central / Westbury and Portsmouth Harbour, as well as between Bristol Temple Meads / Gloucester and Southampton Central
South Western Railway services between London Waterloo and Bournemouth / Poole / Southampton Central / Weymouth, between Winchester and Bournemouth / Poole, between Fareham / Portsmouth & Southsea / Portsmouth Harbour / Winchester and Southampton Central, also between Salisbury and Romsey
Southern services between Brighton / Littlehampton and Southampton Central
