A Metropolitan Police officer has been cleared of two counts of misconduct in public office after standing trial accused of sharing CCTV images from two rape cases.
It was alleged that PC Adam Aspinall Da Encarnacao, 33, shared images of 37-year-old Natalie Shotter, who was raped and killed in Southall in July 2021, and footage related to an unidentified woman who was raped in an alleyway in December 2021.
The officer was cleared at Southwark Crown Court on Monday. He had pleaded not guilty to the charges in August 2024.
PC Aspinall Da Encarnacao, from Buckinghamshire, was suspended from police duty following his arrest in 2022, and this suspension remains in place, the Met Police said.
The force added that it was considering the next steps in misconduct proceedings against him.
NHS worker and mother of three Ms Shotter was raped and killed by Mohamed Iidow, in Southall Park in west London in July 2021 in an attack that began as she lay unconscious on a park bench.
