More than 70 people on motorbikes turned out to make a 16 year-old's trip to prom unforgettable, after his mum put an appeal on social media.

Jade, from Swadlincote, Derbyshire, posted on the 'Midlands Motorbikers' group on Facebook, asking for people to escort her 16 year-old son, Jack, to his prom.

She told the group that his transport had fallen through, and they would drive from the Millhouse pub, Burton-on-Trent, to Burton Albion football club.

"There were 10 people with bikes when got there. More came, and more came, and by the end of it, I think we counted 73," said Jade.

She said Jack was bullied for his weight for many years, so wanted to make the event memorable.

"It was a struggle with Jack, especially in the early years of high school," she told BBC Radio Derby.

"Those scars are there forever.

"It was kind of the grand finale for me, so I thought you know what, let's try and make it a bit special," she added.

The 73 riders followed Jack, who rode on the back of his step-father's motorbike, from the Millhouse pub, to Burton Albion football club.

"I was really overwhelmed, I spent my whole evening crying, it was very emotional," said Jade.

"He had the biggest smile all night, he was pretty quiet. I don't think he knew what to say."

A video on social media showed the escort arriving at the club, as dozens of people took photographs and videos.

"There's not enough words that I could say to them. It wasn't just the bikers, a lady came and offered free photography for us," said Jade.

"Jack'll never forget that night. I am truly humbled and grateful."
