"Significant repairs" to a burst water main in Devon are under way.
South West Water (SWW) said the issue was between Avonwick and Diptford and that the time taken to fix the pipe, which ruptured on Sunday, was partly due to its size.
It added that specialist equipment had been brought in to fix the damage and that it was trying to mend it "as quickly as possible".
Earlier it confirmed bottled water has been delivered to those affected in the area.
"This is a significant repair because of the size of the pipe and the complexity of the work involved and we have brought in specialist equipment to help us complete it," a SWW spokesperson said.
"Our teams are on site and working to complete the repair as quickly and safely as possible."
