The A419 is due to be closed on weekends and overnight for essential repair work on bridges.

National Highways will replace joints and waterproof the north and south bridges of the White Hart junction between Swindon and South Marston between 2 and 14 October.

The refurbishment work follows a number of general maintenance closures along the A417 and A419.

Sarah Lewis at National Highways said: “We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause but need to carry out these essential repairs to ensure the long-term maintenance and safety of the roundabout and bridges."

Weeknight closures will take place between 2 and 3 October, 10 and 11 October and 14 and 17 October from 20:00-06:00 BST.

It will be closed on the weekends from 4-7 and 11-14 October.

All diversion routes have been agreed to keep disruption as minimal as possible, and all diversions will be clearly signed during the closures.

Ms Lewis added: “We understand that road closures are frustrating, but by fully closing the road, we can get this essential repair work done safely and quickly, causing less disruption overall.

“Once it's all complete, these improvements will benefit road users and the local community for many years to come.”
