An air ambulance was called out to assist an injured mountain biker following a crash in the Peak District.

Derbyshire Police contacted Edale Mountain Rescue Team following a call from a group of mountain bikers at Win Hill near Hope at about 13:30 BST on Friday.

The rider was given strong pain relief before his leg was stabilised, the team said.

He was then placed on a stretcher and carried out of the woodland to be taken by air ambulance to Northern General Hospital in Sheffield.
