A police officer has been cleared of sending inappropriate text messages to a witness.

PC Jake Sales, based in Margate, Kent, was accused of sending texts from his work phone to a witness he met during the course of his duties.

He was charged with misconduct in public office and forgery for allegedly drafting an inaccurate witness statement.

At Southwark Crown Court on 31 July, he was found not guilty after the prosecution offered no evidence.
