A rural village's folk rock festival is over for another year after it closed on Saturday.

Thousands of people descended on Fairport's Cropredy Convention, outside Banbury, Oxfordshire, after it opened on Thursday.

It has been staged in the area since 1980.

Performers included Tony Christie, who appeared on the first day of the event, and progressive rock icon Rick Wakeman.

Comedian and folk rock enthusiast Jasper Carrott appeared as the festival was brought to a close.

Festival Director Gareth Williams said: "The licensed capacity of the Cropredy site is 20,000.

"But like so many other medium size festivals, our attendance was down this year. Despite that lack of numbers a great time was had by all."
