Police have arrested a 33-year-old man on suspicion of murder

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 77-year-old man was found dead inside a house.

Merseyside Police said officers were called to a house on Clipsley Lane, Haydock, at about 22:10 GMT on Tuesday, where the 77-year-old man was found dead with a head injury.

A 33-year-old man, also from Haydock, has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Det Insp Yoseph Al-Ramadhan said: “This was a tragic incident in which a man has sadly lost his life."

He added: “An investigation is now under way, which is in the very early stages as we seek to establish what has happened which has led to this tragic incident."
