The Conservatives have not fielded a candidate for the General Election in one South Yorkshire constituency.

When nominations closed earlier, the party's chosen candidate for Rotherham, Laila Cunningham, was marked as "nomination withdrawn".

A spokesperson for the party said the person had withdrawn at "short notice due to a change in circumstances".

The Rotherham seat has been held by Labour's Sarah Champion since 2012 and she had a majority of 3,121 at the 2019 election.

Ms Champion is fighting the seat again on 4 July and will be joined on the ballot paper by candidates from the Liberal Democrats, Reform UK, the Greens, the Yorkshire Party and the Workers Party of Great Britain and an Independent.
