Breakfast clubs offer support to military veterans
- Published
Forces veterans are being offered help through a series of breakfast clubs.
They are being held in Littlehampton and Bognor Regis, West Sussex.
Staff from Arun District Council are on hand to offer advice on issues such as council tax, housing support and other benefits.
The initiative is part of the council's armed forces covenant, signed in 2016, in which it pledges to support the military community.
Those who come to the breakfast clubs must have a connection to the forces, and are offered a bottomless brew in return for a donation, if they can afford one.
The council said it is trying to "resolve long term issues through peer support, direct welfare assistance for short term issues and signposting for longer term solutions".
The next events are due to be held at the Royal Air Force Association in Waterloo Square on 6 June and at the Waverley in Marine Drive, both in Bognor Regis, and both from 09:30 to 11:30 BST.
