Traders are being invited to sign up for trial markets popping up in a Kent coastal town centre as part of an improvement programme.

Stalls selling art, crafts, vintage items, clothes and furniture are being sought to take part in the new events in Folkestone.

Folkestone & Hythe District Council said the stalls will "complement and enhance the existing market".

Council leader Jim Martin said pop-up events between August and October were about "seeing what type of events work to energise the heart of Folkestone".

The pop-up events, which form part of an initiative called Folke About Town, are:

  • Folkestone Street Market - 24 August and 5 October

  • Skate, Cycle, Teenage Market and Music Day - 6 September

  • Art and Craft Market - 14-15 September

Cllr Martin said: "These markets are part of a programme bringing vibrancy.

"I’d encourage traders to get in touch if any of the markets suit what they have to offer.”
