A woman killed when struck by a car was "one in a million", her family said.

Natasha Thorp, 21, was hit on Brassington Avenue, Sutton Coldfield, at about midnight on 22 August. A second pedestrian suffered a leg injury.

Her family said they wanted to thank "the wonderful people" of the town who came to her aid and added it was important to them to know she had not been alone when she died.

West Midlands Police said its investigation into the collision continues and a man, arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, remained on bail. Anybody who may have seen a silver Toyota Corolla immediately before the crash is urged to get in touch.

"To know Natasha was to know a life filled with love, laughter, and joy," Ms Thorp's family said.

"It was a privilege to know her as a part of our family or as a friend.

"We would like to thank the emergency services who tried in vain to save her that night.

"And we would also like to thank the wonderful people of Sutton Coldfield for their kind support, particularly those that stayed with, or came to help Natasha on that terrible night.

"It's very important to our family to know that she wasn't alone at the end."
