Perth High School is to reopen on Thursday after three days of work on power failures.

Pupils were sent home from the new £80m school on Monday after engineers were called to a reported outage.

A recurring problem kept the school closed for a further two days, but Perth and Kinross Council said there had been a stable power supply for the past 24 hours and the issue had now been resolved.

The problem was related to a fault in the school's internal energy centre.

A Perth and Kinross Council statement said: "We thank everyone for their patience while we worked to rectify the fault and apologise for any inconvenience it has caused."

Councillor John Rebbeck, convener of the council's Learning and Families Committee, said: "I would like to thank everyone in the school community for their patience while this issue was resolved.

"We look forward to welcoming pupils back tomorrow and supported study sessions will be offered to pupils affected by the closure this week."

Construction work on the school began in February 2023 and was completed earlier this year.
