A 22-year-old woman has died after being hit by a car.

The pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Mauldeth Road West in Withington, Manchester, at about 11:52 BST on Friday.

She was taken to hospital where she died later that day, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said.

Two men, aged 18 and 20, were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, with one released with no further action and the other bailed.

Sergeant Andrew Page from GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “Our thoughts are with this young woman’s family at this tragic time."

The woman's family are being supported by specially trained officers.

Police have appealed for anyone with information or video footage to contact them.

"It can all be used to help us establish how a young woman lost her life in such distressing circumstances," said Sgt Page.
