Man arrested over assaulting emergency worker

The man was also arrested in connection with an assault on an emergency worker, police said

A man has been arrested in connection with a "strangulation incident" and an assault on an emergency worker.
Devon and Cornwall Police said the man, in his 40s, was arrested following an incident near to the M5 junction on the A361 near Sampford Peverell at around 10:20 BST.
A force spokesperson said they were called out to a concern for welfare incident for a man around the A361 / M5 junction.
"Officers attended and located the man in his 40s who was arrested on suspicion of non-fatal strangulation relating to an earlier incident," they added.
"He was further arrested for assaulting an emergency worker," they added.
The man remains in police custody.
A road closure was briefly put in place but had since been lifted, police said.
