City park to get accessible play area

The new play equipment is designed to be accessible to all, Hull City Council said

An accessible play area is to be built at a park in Hull.

The site on Gower Road will get play equipment, a safety surface and a communication board to support inclusive play for children with communication needs, the city council said.

It will be on one level, allowing full accessibility to all users.

Work is expected to be finished later this year.

Councillor Rob Pritchard, portfolio holder for culture and leisure, said the new play area was a "fantastic example of how we are working to improve outdoor spaces across Hull".

"Playgrounds are vital for children's development, encouraging physical activity, social interaction and imaginative play," he said.

"I'm especially proud that this refurbishment will make the park fully accessible, ensuring that all children can enjoy the space.

"I'm sure it will be enjoyed by many for years to come."
