Tributes have been paid to a "bright and fun-loving" girl who was found dead at a house.

Shay Kang, 10, was discovered with injuries at an address in Robin Close, Rowley Regis, West Midlands, at about 12:10 GMT on Monday, police said.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 33-year-old woman, understood to be known to the girl, was arrested on suspicion of murder and remained in custody, the force added.

Shay attended nearby Brickhouse Primary School.

“Our school is deeply saddened by the tragic death of one of our children," the school said in a statement.

“Shay was a bright, happy, fun-loving child who was well liked by all and she will be very sadly missed by everyone."

Tributes were also laid at the edge of the police cordon on the Robin Close cul-de-sac including unicorn toys, a Minnie Mouse doll, and a card that said: "Thinking of you. Rest in peace."

Another card left at the scene said: "Shay you will be forever missed and always in our thoughts."

Children were among those laying floral tributes while some cards which included poems were left behind.

A balloon release was held in Shay's memory on Tuesday afternoon.

Jess Sheppard, whose child attended school with Shay, said the youngster did not have a bad bone in her body.

"She was such a sweet girl," the mother said. "She always had a smile on her face.

"She was everyone's friend and hearing this is just disgusting."
