The M20 will be closed overnight on Sunday to remove the traffic holding system for lorries heading across the English Channel.

Operation Brock had been brought in ahead of the Easter holidays to prepare for high passenger numbers travelling through Kent.

It covers a 13-mile (20.9km) stretch of the motorway between junctions eight (Maidstone) and nine (Ashford).

National Highways said this weekend was "the right time" to deactivate the contraflow.

The London-bound closure will be from junctions nine to eight and coast-bound from junction seven to night overnight from 20:00 BST on Sunday to 06:00 on Monday.

Signed diversion routes will be in place on the A20.

A Highways spokesperson said: "Once removed, both carriageways will re-open with three lanes and the national speed limit back in place."
