Man left fighting for life in hit-and-run

A man knocked down in a hit-and-run by a car travelling on the wrong side of the road has been left fighting for his life.

The 33-year-old was struck crossing Dickenson Road in Longsight, Manchester at about 21:30 BST on Monday and suffered serious injuries.

Greater Manchester Police said two men, aged 19 and 21, were tracked down to a road in Salford after the car failed to stop at the scene.

The pair have been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

The force has asked for anyone who saw the hit-and-run, or may have dash cam or other footage of the incident, to come forward.
