Venus captured in skies across the West Midlands

    Country corf captured the Moon and Venus shining brightly on Admaston, Shropshire.

Stargazers across the West Midlands have shared images of Venus shining above a crescent Moon, photographed as night fell on Friday.

The planet, known as the Evening or Morning Star, was visible to the naked eye around the globe.

BBC Weather Watchers duly sent in their snaps, but enthusiasts casting their eyes to darkening skies on Saturday may also spot shooting stars, with the Quadrantid meteor shower expected to peak.

Both Venus and Saturn are set to make an appearance on 18 January, merely 2.2° apart as viewed from Earth.
