A residential road has been closed for eight months to allow for work to continue on a social housing development.

The Vale, in Grove Hill, Middlesbrough, will be closed to traffic so roadworks can be carried out ahead of the completion of Hillside Gardens in 2028, which will have 296 affordable rented homes.

Surrounding roads will also be affected, with manually controlled, three-way traffic lights on Keith Road and the junction of The Vale and Hollyhurst Avenue for the next six months.

Middlesbrough Council said delays on the surrounding rounds "are inevitable" as it thanked the public for "their patience and understanding".
